Dear Aurora,

What a joy and honour it is to write you this letter in celebration of your very first Christmas. I was so thrilled to add your name to my list this year, and I can tell we are going to be marvellous friends.

Since you don’t know me yet, Aurora, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Santa Claus, but you can just call me Santa. I live in a wonderful place called the North Pole – it’s so magical here, always covered in a thick layer of glistening snow as far as the eye can see. You should feel how cold it is! I need to wear my woolly red hat every day! 

I spend nearly all my time up here together with my team of elves and very trusty reindeer, and every Christmas Eve it is our privilege to climb aboard my sleigh and spread joy and presents to children all over the world. 

Christmas is a time filled with love and happiness, and I know your family and friends are going to have such an exciting time introducing you to the magic of Christmas. It’s my favourite time of the year, and I hope it will become one of yours too Aurora.

I look forward to visiting you again next Christmas, and perhaps when you are old enough, you might even write to me at the North Pole? I will be sure to look out for your letter!
